Follesø Mannskor

FMK
is an amateur male choir with strong traditions and is closely connected
with the small island of Askøy, just outside of Bergen,
Norway. The choir was founded in 1914 and has been in continual existence
for
93 years.
The choir consists of 25 singers with an average age of about 50. The
Conductor is Synnøve Tollaas.
One of our main aims is to become a high-quality choir and thus be able
to participate in top level competitions and concerts. The choir therefore
demands a high standard of its members.

1 1960 and 1964 Choir Competition in Wales
2 1971 2nd place in the Norwegian Choir Festival
3 1973 1st place in a competition held by Norwegian Broadcasting.
4 1989 3rd place in “Sing for us” in Bergen
5 2001 1st place in “Sing for us” in Bergen
6 2003 1st place in the National Choir Competition
7 2006 1st place in Mid Norwegian Choir Competition
8 2007 2nd place in the Norwegian Choir Festival

In 2006 FMK represented the Norwegian Male Choir tradition at The Norwegian
Choir Association 20 th anniversary Consert in Grieghallen.
The choir often participates in seminars that are hosted by able and gifted
instructors, in an effort to strengthen and improve standards.
